Joshua Jensen-Nagel, The Echoes of Silence Filling the Air, 2008
The Echoes of Silence Filling the Air
Artist RegionOntario
DescriptionJensen-Nagle's series consists of atmospheric, melancholy images of ballet dancers photographed through glass or other means of distortion, utilizing photography as artistic expression rather than an attempt to replicate reality.
Similar in themes to the artist's "A Loneliness that Nobody Should Know", this work also depicts a dancer suspended in a seemingly endless darkness, but with a more traditional landscape format of composition. The use of lighter values at the top of the composition is similar to the other work, emphasizing the dancer's solitude through a larger area of positive space.
