Description
Spence’s photocollage work repurposes imagery from vintage British Columbia travel brochures and advertisements, cropping and dissecting the images into tiny pixels and rearranging them into abstracted, digital-inspired designs arranged by colour and value. Through the appropriation of voyeuristic images, Spence creates a high contrast between analog and digital media. By meticulously cutting and reformulating the original image, a new interaction emerges between technology and the private/public realm. This work allows us to consider our individual perceptions of technology, memory, and artistic craft.
