Born in Australia, photographer Dean West is currently based in New York City. He graduated from the Queensland College of Art, and specializes in highly staged photographs that take everyday situations and push them past the bounds of reality, characterized by atmospheric landscapes and intricate compositions. His inspirations for the narrative aspects of his work include the worlds of advertising and film, as well as the work of Edward Hopper and David Hockney, and he has collaborated with a number of international brands including Disney, MTV, Bombay Sapphire, and Fox Sports. He has been honoured as one of Saatchi & Saatchi’s “Top 100 Emerging Photographers” in 2008, as well as Advertising Photographer of the Year at the International Loupe Awards in the same year. His work has been exhibited around the world, including at the Paris Expo Gallery, the Columbus Museum of Art in Ohio, the Franklin Institute Museum in Philadelphia, PA, and Discovery Centre Times Square in New York City.
