Angela Aujla is an emerging artist specializing in ink line drawings and collage. Her intricate linework is inspired by the detailing of 19th century Indian miniature paintings, and features stylized and abstract portrait and figurative drawings of South Asian women. Her vibrant digital collages explore and reassemble popular Orientalist imagery and iconography of colonial and postcolonial India including vintage photography, coins, bank notes, postage stamps, and postcards. Angela’s drawings and collages can be found in private collections in Ontario, British Columbia, New Jersey, the UK, and Amsterdam. Her work has been shown in seven group exhibitions this year in Toronto, Innisfil, Anten Mills and Midland, with three more group exhibitions forthcoming in November and December 2015.
