Toronto-based artist Heather Graham creates works that seem to dissolve as the viewer approaches, faint outlines of facial features coming into view only at a distance. A graduate of OCAD, Graham started her art career as a still life painter, but became interested in painting faces using a technique that involves applying paint and then removing it, scraping it off before it completely dries to create the faded, ethereal effect seen in her work. Her work has been exhibited across the US and Canada, and she has been the recipient of Visual Arts grants from The Canada Council of the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council.
