Artist Statement •
"This is a portrait of the infamous former President and dictator of the Philippines, Ferdinand Marcos, and his wife, Imelda. Despite his dictatorship (under which 3,000 people were killed, 35,000 sexually and physically tortured, and 70,000 imprisoned) and his family’s ill-gotten wealth, loyalists still glorify the Marcoses to this day. This piece depicts how social media can influence and alter people’s perception of world history and politics through fake news and trolls."
