Developing The World's Youth Opening Reception

Hosted by the Humber International Development Institute

International Development Week (IDW) is an annual national initiative to encourage Canadians—especially youth—to learn more about and contribute to international development. The Opening Ceremony kicks off one week of International Development Week activities at Humber College campuses (Lakeshore and North campuses).

This year our theme is ‘Developing the World’s Youth: Innovation in Entrepreneurship and Employment’. From February 7th through to the 10th a series of interactive workshops and panel discussions will be taking place, where students, faculty, community leaders and the general public can learn how Canada and Canadians are making a difference around the world.

Humber College in collaboration with Save the Children will be highlighting two international programs that focus on youth entrepreneurship for young people growing up in poverty. Through a month long photo exhibit, we will be showcasing Humber’s Sulawesi Economic Development Strategy, a Global Affairs Canada funded project that is advancing entrepreneurship in Universities in Indonesia, as well as Save the Children’s Youth in Action Program that supports out-of-school rural African youth to develop their foundational and entrepreneurial skills and explore livelihood opportunities.
