Work • A Heritage Moment: Motels of Kingston Road
Medium • Acrylic on metal
Artwork Description • This was painted as part of Street Art Toronto’s Outside the Box program. The mural is painted on a traffic signal box at the corner of Brimley Road and Kingston Road in Scarborough. The image is a collage of the iconic and vintage motel signs advertising the many motels along Kingston road. These locations hold a lot of historical significance to the surrounding communities and are of personal significance to the refugee immigrant population in Toronto, some of whom made these motels their first and primary residence upon arriving in Canada.
