'On Materials' brings together ten recent acquisitions to the Humber Art Collection. This exhibition takes Marshall McLuhan’s infamous 1964 phrase “the medium is the message” as its jumping off point and considers the impact of an artist’s chosen material on a final work, its reception with viewers and how it supports, contradicts or plays with intended meanings.
